FRNC-5PC is a rating program for general purpose fired heaters. Based on user-supplied heater geometry and process information, the program calculates operating parameters such as firing rate, heater efficiency, tube skin temperatures and required tube thicknesses, gas-side temperatures and draft, process temperatures, pressure drop and flow regimes, heat duties and fluxes, and much more.
FRNC-5PC simulates most heater types, coil configurations, tube and fin types, and external transfer lines. FRNC-5PC can simulate the heat recovery sections of any types of furnaces, boilers and turbines.
FRNC-5PC has user-friendly graphical input systems. The input systems contain on-line help and input limit and error checking.
FRNC-5PC contains an automatic stream property generator for common chemical compounds and typical petroleum fractions. Users can optionally supply their own stream property profiles. The program features International and US/English unit systems forinputandoutput.

Added a user option to suppress the "license expires in
XX days" pop-up messages. This message, although it is
important, can be a nuisance and interfere with 'remote'
GUI operations and procedures adopted by some users.
Added correct version numbers and product numbers to
the data displayed when the Frnc5.exe GUI file's or
the F5win95.exe Simulation file's 'Properties - Details'
are selected from Windows Explorer.
Fixed a bug that rarely occurs When loading an input
file. Tube metallurgy, if it was left blank, was
incorrectly being changed by the GUI to that of the
previous Tube data's metallurgy input. This no longer
Fixed a bug that caused the GUI to not store a FUELA
card if there were no components on it. Then when it
loaded a file with only FUELB and FUELC and no FUELA,
it crashed the GUI. This no longer occurs.
Fixed a problem with the Fuel composition card that
could cause a 'false positive' input/output file
compatibility message when opening outputs. This was
caused by entering too many significant figures for
too many fuel components which then forced the need for
multiple FUELA cards.
Fixed a bug with the new Excel Import feature that
could cause GUI aborts when importing physical property
data and converting from US to Int'l units or vice versa.
Increased the number of characters from 1 to 3 for the
"Number of Parallel Sections" for Firebox and Convection
Section inputs in fixed format.
Updated the flue gas temperatures for cases when the
user inputs Heat Loss Multipliers. Previously, the heat
loss was adjusted, but the flue gas temperature was
Added a feature that allows the Physical Property Grids
that are input by the user to be saved when user requests
the grids to be saved. Previously, only Grids that were
created by the program were saved.
Fixed a bug that caused a crash in rare cases when a
value was given for the Pressure Drop in a Fitting, but
the Fitting was specified as some other type that does
not accept the Pressure Drop input.
